When does Joint Health and Safety Committee Part 1 expire?

JHSC Part 1 training must be followed by Part 2 within 12 months. If not completed in that timeframe, Part 1 will expire, and you’ll need to retake it before moving on.

What are the prerequisites for Part 1?

There are no formal prerequisites for JHSC Certification Part 1. However, participants should have a good understanding of English to fully engage with the course material and discussions.

Is OSG’s JHSC Certification Part 1 MOL-approved?

Yes, OSG’s Joint Health and Safety Committee Certification Part 1 Training is approved by Ontario’s Chief Prevention Officer (CPO).

This means the course meets the standards set by the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development for high-quality, compliant health and safety training in Ontario.

Who is required to complete JHSC Certification Part 1 in Ontario?

Under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, any provincial employer in Ontario with 20 or more regularly employed workers must have a Joint Health and Safety Committee with at least two certified members, one representing workers and one representing management. Those committee members are required to complete both Part 1 and Part 2 certification training from a CPO-approved provider within 12 months.

Can I take JHSC Part 1 without a facilitator?

Yes! You can take JHSC Part 1 Training without a facilitator by choosing our JHSC Online Certification, which combines both Part 1 and Part 2. Part 1 is delivered as a self-paced course that takes approximately 13–16 hours to complete, offering a faster, more flexible learning experience. This option is also more cost-effective than purchasing each part separately.

Is there an assessment for JHSC Part 1?

Yes. To receive your JHSC Part 1 certificate, you must complete an assessment that takes approximately 1–2.5 hours. A score of 75% or higher is required to pass. You have three attempts to successfully complete the assessment.

After successfully passing the Part 1 assessment, you can move on to JHSC Part 2.

If you require an accommodation to complete the assessment, please contact us at info@osg.managepoint.dev so we can assist you.

Can I purchase JHSC Part 1 and Part 2 together?

Yes! You can purchase JHSC Part 1 and Part 2 together when you register for JHSC Online Certification.

  • Part 1: A self-paced online course that takes approximately 13–16 hours to complete, offering a flexible and efficient learning experience
  • Part 2: A facilitator-led, two-day course delivered online

Purchasing both parts together is also more cost-effective than buying them separately. Please note this is the only option available if you wish to purchase the courses as a package.

Is a certificate provided after completing JHSC Part 1?

Yes. After successfully completing the Part 1 assessment, OSG will email you an acknowledgement of course completion. Within 6–8 weeks, you will also receive an email from the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training, and Skills Development (MLITSD) with instructions to access your certificate through the Prevention Certification Management System (PCMS) portal.

Can multiple participants complete JHSC Part 1 on the same computer?
